Abstract

The Ibero-American Model of Excellence in Management, established by FUNDIBEQ, offers a structure to improve organizational management in companies, both public and private, regardless of their size or sector. Using the Ibero-American Model of Excellence in Management, the study evaluated the excellence of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Commerce Sector in Quito, specifically in the ISIC Subsectors: the codes G4530, G4611-17, G4618-19, G4641, G4649, G4651, G4661, G4662, G4663, G4669, G4690, G4751-9 and G4771-4 corresponding to activities related to the wholesale and retail sale of a wide range of products, including auto parts, textiles, household products, fuels, building materials, metals, and other goods. The research studies the Commerce Sector through a survey applied to 427 companies; A quantitative analysis of the data determined a high level of compliance with the criteria of the model, especially in the facilitating processes with a range between 79% and 83%. The Outcome Criteria score well in most areas in a range of 78% to 80%; this shows that there is a trend towards progress, that the objectives set, and the targets of the indicators are achieved.
